Five buttons across a desk look similar and are not: they have three different blast radii, from "just this role, just this desk" up to "gone everywhere, forever." Pick the wrong one and either nothing changes the way you expected, or more disappears than you meant. This page is the decision aid — what each button actually does, and which one to press.
The five buttons
Keep (Discovery row, and "Keep all N") — maps the company onto Your list. This is the strongest positive signal you can give: it also relaxes a learned rule if one had demoted the row.
Pass (Discovery row, ghost button next to Keep) — tells this desk the role isn't a fit. The lead stays alive everywhere else; sibling desks recruiting a different role at the same company still see it.
Not relevant (Discovery kebab menu, and the bulk bar) — kills the posting everywhere, for every desk, and reposts of the same role at the same company stay dead too. This is the widest-reaching of the five — see the warning below.
This desk (the Needs a look row's confirm button, and "Confirm N companies" in bulk) — files a borderline company onto Your list. Once a company is on Your list, the same action shows as Confirm on its card — a terminal filing decision the classifier will never revisit.
Hide from desk (the Your list card's ×, the Needs a look row's dismiss button, and bulk Hide) — drops a company off this desk's view. It stays mapped and monitored underneath, and it's reversible.
Which one should I press?
"This company's genuinely a fit." Hit Keep on Discovery, or Confirm / This desk once it's filed. Nothing stronger exists — this is also the one call that can undo an over-eager learned rule.
"Not for this desk, but maybe for another one I run." Hit Pass. It only ever affects the desk you're standing on.
"This posting is junk, wrong, or a role I never want to see again from this company — on any desk." Use Not relevant. Be sure before you click: it isn't scoped to this desk and reposts stay dead.
"This company's fine, I just don't want it cluttering my working view right now." Use Hide from desk. Nothing is lost — the company keeps being watched, and hiding is reversible.
Not relevant reaches further than the rest
Not relevant is tenant-wide, not desk-scoped. Every other verb on this page acts on one desk. Not relevant is the exception: it marks the posting dead for the whole tenant, hides it on every desk (not just this one), and a repost of the same role at the same company won't resurface either. If a role could plausibly belong to a different desk you or a colleague runs, use Pass instead — Pass leaves it fully visible everywhere except here.
Only Keep and Pass teach the desk
Keep and Pass are the two calls the desk actually learns from — repeat one enough on a role title, sector, or company size and Discovery starts adjusting what it shows you automatically. Not relevant is recorded but never read by that process — it's a permanent removal, not a taste signal. Confirm / This desk and Hide from desk are filing decisions, not teaching signals either. Reversible vs permanent
Reversible: Hide from desk (unhide it and it's back), and a learned rule Pass produced (a later Keep relaxes it).
Not reversible from the UI: Not relevant (the posting and its reposts are dead tenant-wide), and Confirm / This desk (a terminal filing decision the classifier never re-decides).
