How Your Desk Learns
Every Keep and Pass you make on Discovery teaches your desk what "a fit" actually looks like for you — not a generic AU market, yours. Work it for a couple of weeks and the queue gets quieter and more accurate on its own. Nothing it learns ever throws a lead away: the desk only ever tucks a demoted one out of sight, one click from coming back.
What Keep and Pass actually record
Every time you call a row on Discovery, Kolvera snapshots that lead's features at the moment you acted — sector, role title, company size band, location and source board. That snapshot is permanent even if the underlying job posting is later edited or taken down, because it's the record of what you reacted to, not a live pointer to the listing.
Pass and Keep are opposites in that record: a Pass is a vote that this kind of lead isn't a fit, a Keep is a vote that it is. The desk only ever learns from the pattern across many of these votes — a single Pass never changes anything by itself.
How a pattern becomes a rule
A background check looks back over your last 14 days of Discovery activity. When one value — a sector, a role title, or a size band — has collected at least 5 Passes on 5 different job postings, with no Keep on that same value in the window, it's no longer noise. That's a rule now.
Example: you Pass on five different Sales Manager postings at recruitment agencies over a couple of weeks, and Keep none of them. Two things happen at once, because that one run of Passes matches two rules: Sales Manager leads start being demoted automatically straight away (title rules need no confirmation), and the desk also asks: "You've passed 5 roles at Recruitment Agencies companies recently. Treat Recruitment Agencies as out of scope for this desk?" Say Yes, and new agency leads of any title start landing in the filtered fold too. Say No, and it won't ask about recruitment agencies again for 30 days — but the pattern is still there, so if you keep passing on them it'll come back and ask again once the snooze lifts.
Demoted, never hidden
A learned rule demotes a matching lead — it never deletes or hides it outright. Demoted leads drop into a fold at the bottom of Discovery labelled "Filtered by your desk (N)", collapsed by default so your main queue stays clean. Open it and the most recent demoted leads are listed, with the full count shown next to the fold's name so you always know how many are waiting even if not every one is on screen at once. A rule reflects your taste, not a disqualification — the company or role might still be worth working, you've just told the desk it's usually not what you want to see first.
Keep changes the desk's mind
If you open the filtered fold and hit Keep on a lead sitting there, you're contradicting the very rule that demoted it — and the desk listens. An automatic title rule is relaxed immediately: the next lead with that title goes straight back to your main queue.
A sector or size rule you answered Yes to is treated differently, on purpose. That's a decision you made deliberately, not something the desk inferred quietly, so a single Keep won't silently undo it behind your back — instead, open Last change on the desk header to reach the Desk Activity panel, where you'll find an Undo next to that rule whenever you want to reverse it yourself.
Why it works this way
The whole point is that an AI tool quietly hiding your leads is the thing recruiters worry about most. This system is built so that never happens: every rule comes from your own repeated actions, every rule is visible, every demoted lead is counted and stays reachable in the filtered fold, and every rule can be undone — by a Keep, by an Undo click, or just by answering a question differently next time it comes up.
